Breakthrough Data Innovations specializes in analyzing real world systems
and modeling them with databases. Whether you want us to redesign an existing
database, replace a paper based system, or design a new system from scratch,
we first strive to gain a clear understanding of your goals and objectives
for the database. With these in mind, we can move on to the design phase.
Proper design makes maintenance and retrieval of data reliable and efficient,
and insures that the database behaves consistently and predictably. In the
design phase, we evaluate your business or system and break it down into
components that we represent with database tables. The attributes that
uniquely define a component become the columns of the table. The tables are
related to each other in the same way that the components of your system are
related.
For example, you might have customers (a table) that are uniquely identified
by name, address, phone number, etc... (columns). You might also have contacts
(another table) that are uniquely identified by customer, contact name, and
phone number (columns). The customer column in the contacts table relates a
contact to a customer.
As we perform our initial evaluation, we analyze your existing and/or proposed
forms and reports to insure that all required data fields are accounted for.
